I've got this game sitting on my table. I haven't opened it yet. I've been eagerly awaiting it for weeks now. Anyone else playing?

I need to spend some more time and get a little deeper into game before I can give you a review. I haven't even made it to Vegas yet. :)

I've been playing Rainbow Six: Las Vegas for a few days now. Let me preface this by saying I usually start games playing on the Medium difficultly level. Rainbow Six has two levels, Easy and Realistic. I chose to play this game on realistic and believe me it is realistic. Realistic is a good balance between to few opponents and to many. In most games they just keep throwing targets at you till you die. RS:LV has done it right making for a challenging game.

Game play is fairly intuitive and the controls feel natural. I particularly like the cover mechanism. You don't get stuck in cover mode like in some other games. If you a hard core COD player you can get mixed up with the controls. I tend to throw grenades when I mean to duck.

The graphics are excellent. I agree with most reviewers that they are slightly under GOW quality but still they are mighty fine. There a lot of rich detail to your surrounding and you have to be careful as some objects will move and make noise which tips off your targets.

Theres a nice selection of weapons to choose from at various points in the game. Each weapon is customizable with various types of scopes. I prefer the sniper rifle scope but theres everything from standard optics to laser targeting. Choosing wisely can mean everything in this game.

You start the game in Mexico trying to put down an insurgent uprising. This is basically the tutorial section. You start out alone having dropped into a hot zone and your chopper bugging out before anyone else can drop in with you. You have to maneuver your way to the rally point. This is where you learn the basics of game play. You learn how to use the map, weapons, and snake cam. Once you meet up with the team you start working on team coordination skills. Finally you must clear out a Rail Yard and capture the target. I finally completed the first act and I've moved on to Las Vegas.

All totaled I've probably play RS:LV for about 10 hours. I'm looking forward to playing it out some more. The game is very engaging with the right mix of story and action. I give it two thumbs up.
