Have you considered a used one from Ebgames/GameStop?

I have, but that would take energy. :)

I will probably look this weekend.

If you haven't gotten one yet, I've got one of the second gen (smaller form factor) available that I'm selling. $40 shipped and I'll throw in the component cables.

ETA: Taken.

You should have spoken up a week ago. I sold mine on Amazon for $120 with an extra controller, nice super video cable and HD cable. :/

You have a working, small form factor PS2 with component cables and you'll see it for $40 shipped? If it hasn't been snatched up already I'll take it. PM me and we can work out the details.

Whats the difference between the two?

Oh, and yes, I am still looking. :)

Between the original PS2 and the newer small form factor?

Mostly just the size. The original is about 2.2x bigger. And I believe the newer ones do not have the Firewire/iLink port on front. Otherwise, it's just an update to reduce the size of the unit mostly.

Here's a visual comparison:

the newer unit is obviously smaller (on the left in both views)

(Why won't it let me post a picture!?)

The original PS2 is larger, has Firewire jacks as well as a place in the back to add a hard drive and network adapter. The smaller one has the ethernet jack built in and no way to add a hard drive.

Well, if it is still availble....

My boyfriend is looking for one for his boys, so basic is fine.

Well, the boyfriend part really breaks my heart. Hotties should be single, unless they're attached to me. On the other hand, the fact that your boyfriend can't find "one of his boys", perhaps the relationship is doomed :).

He's right, run... away from that guy and into my arms. Oops, hang on, I gotta tell my wife I'm leaving, file for divorce, have an ugly child custody battle, yeah... you probably should stay with Mr. Playstation. BUT... if my wife ever sobers up long enough to figure out that she's married to me, I'll call ya :).
