There's speculation that this site is the first look at Heath Ledger's Joker. Not sure if I like it or not.

There's an obvious spoiler here--what the Joker may look like. Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled. It's also a little disturbing...

(Note, I originally linked to the page that this was found on, but the page is no longer there. So the link is now to the www.aintitcool.com (http://www.aintitcool.com) page that discussed it, with a copy of the pic at the bottom).

It would have been nice to know what upcoming movie they were talking about. Took me a few rereads and some searching to figure out WTF was going on.

Looks like they got Maggie Gylenhal to replace Mrs. Tom Cruise in the sequel.

I just wish they didn't feel like Rachel needed to come back. I don't see any point.

So, Phil, what do you think of the pic? I'm not sure how I feel...it's so different than any other envisioning of the Joker. But, then again, so was Scarecrow and Ras al Gul, and they both worked pretty well.

I'm not sure on this. I can see what they are trying to do: the Joker was made in a chemical accident, and that looks more like a chemical accident than any other version (Romero, Nickelson, Dead End). If I saw a guy like that walking down the street, it would scare the shit out of me. I'll have to wait to see what Heath Ledger does with the acting: it will make or break it.

I think that Nicholson's Joker was probably the closest (other than this) to actually looking like a chemical accident, but then Nicholson overplayed the character to the level of the comics.

It's going to be a tough role to do in the "realistic" Batman Begins universe. You've got to have "The Joker" that everyone will recognize in some way--the look, some meniacal laughter, etc. But going over the top with the character won't fit right--nor will the "Prankster" Joker that is the most common representation. Strangely, though, after Batman Begins, I'm really looking forward to how they do it--I actually trust these filmmakers.

I'm with ya on this one doom. After seeing them do decent versions of Ras and Scarecrow. I'm optimistic that they'll do a good Joker. They just need to balance the lunatic, murderous, and prankster sides of him. If they overdo any one of those, then it won't work.

A few sites are posting two pics that were from USA Today in a story regarding how Nolan is filming certain scenes using IMAX cameras. In one, what appears to be a Joker outfited person can be seen (out of focus) in the background, wearing what appears to be a mask. Someone in the forefront is obviously wearing a clown mask.

The other pic shows what appears to be post-accident Joker...from what I can make out, he's got the purple jacket and green hair. It actually worried me a little--the first pic was so different than any other Joker look before that, when I saw what appeared to be more of a "standard" Joker look, it got me wondering which way they'll go.
