So-so. Longest book, shortest movie - so that should tell you about how much varied from book to film.
Definitely, the most dark/sinister of the series to date.

I really didn't like Book 5 anyway so I found the movie to be better than the book. I'm just not into teen angst and book 5 had it in spades.
Of the little action in the book, all of it made it into the movie. I'll agree though, darkest movie of the bunch.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, thought it was the best. The amazing soundtrack helped as well.
But I am agreeing with the OP about the length of it vs. the length of the book. I want to see a 4 hour movie if it means that we get an in-depth version of the book.

Just got back from the movie. Enjoyed it. Some 'fluff' taken out was not missed, but did miss some things that (I think) should have been in there.

I didn't find Umbridge to be malicious enough. She just came across as being kind of annoying, not out and out evil.

I really enjoyed the movie. I just wish I hadn't read the book the week before I went to see it. I wouldn't have realized everything that was left out. But all in all I liked it!

I enjoyed it quite a bit. As an adaptation, I think it may be the best in the series to date. I thought they did a very good job of capturing the film's essential arc, carving out the nonesentials and adapting what needed to be adapted. (i.e., the change in who rats out the DA)
Saw it a second time, too.

...can't remember. Who ratted DA out in the book?

Cho's friend, but I can't remember her name.

No, I believe it was Cho herself, but under the Veritaserum (truth serum) that Umbridge was using to question the students.

In the book it was Cho's friend, who was then branded as a SNEAK with permanent pimples on her forehead. It was part of Hermione's binding secrecy charm on the DA roster. All that was cut out of the movie.
Instead, the movie put up Cho as the rat, under Umbridge's interrogation with veritaserum.

Yep, just verified in the book it was her friend. It confuses some of us who read the book and view the movie. I sometimes get things mixed up. :wackyconfused:

Just took my kids to see this last week at the huge IMAX screening...
Man, I always thought that bigger was better when it came to theater experiences...this was almost too big!!!
The kids really liked it though...there are so few films that make it to IMAX, that it was a treat nevertheless...
