Looks like it came out 12/20; didn't hear anything about it, though. Looks OK--not a lot of robot shots that allowed you to see any detail; the ones that were there have me worried that they might have made them *too* complicated; the quick shot of Optimus transforming seemed like it had stuff spinning and connecting all over him.

But, even though I'm not terribly impressed by the trailer, and it is a Michael Bay film, I'm still looking forward to seeing it opening weekend...

I'm sure the effects aren't done, yet they needed to put together a trailer.

Where did you see it? The version I saw seemed to be pretty low-res.

www.Transformersmovie.com (http://www.Transformersmovie.com)

They mention a high-res version available at Yahoo; didn't pull that one down.

I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye.

It still torks me off that Bumblebee isn't a VW Bug. Even one of the new bugs would be acceptable. But he's the "everyman" character. Making into a sports car strips him of that role.

I've heard that they lost any rights to Volkswagon vehicles (kinda odd, since they still have a Porsche in the movie). I'm bummed about it, but I won't let that change wreck things for me. I'm sure the studio would have loved to get a Bug in that role--and, quite frankly, VW was stupid not to let them.

"lost teh rights" as in what, VW just said "No way in hell"? They didn't wanmt tp spend the money to license the car...

Shit, most car companies are thrilled ot get one of their cars as the focus of even one scene... Look at how many of those new cars Cadillac gave to the production team for The Matrix movies...

Not a bug? How is that even possible? Oh good god this is a revolting development. :(

Now that I've looked around I have two more bitches:

1) Boo!!! to sites that have sound. One thumb down for that.
2) Trailer is only available in Quicktime? Two thumbs down for that.

Any way I can watch the trailing without installing Quicktime?

tk

edit: Okay, only one thumb down for #2. It's available via flash on the Transformers site.

Foreign care companies are, as a general rule, much more stringent on who they'll license their cars to and for what. GM and Ford will let you body cast a prototype if it means any press for them (good or bad).

Yea, even worse, he's a new-style camaro...

I fully expect to see a robo-mullet on him...

I have a hunch the ones that want to put out a picture, like Michael Bay - wanted to stay as true to the original.

However, the studio backing the picture probably said, "Well, we'll need to offset production costs with product placement. We'll see if GM is willing to pay us some promotional consideration." (Or Ford, I thought Bumblebee was going to be a Mustang.)

There wasn't a reason for VW to give money to the studio to keep Bumblebee as one of their cars.

The Transformers site has a rather large and obvious link to Yahoo! movies, where the trailer is hosted in WMP and Quicktime versions...
