Weird question. Humor me.

And, no, it's not Allston-Brighton.

MikeMar

yes, the one that starts with B :D

eddyj

No for A or B. I went with C (Cambridge).

Unless you count Billerica, that is close enough, right? :p

Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, Woburn... No Brighton or Allston. But I have friends that have (and do) live in both.

I lived in a semi-crappy student apartment in Allston in 1988-89.

Eh. Four years at Brandeis and then I was out.

Mike went to that other B school in Waltham.

No, but the one time I've been to Boston, I stayed in a Best Western on Commonwealth Ave. in Allston. Relatively cheap, and convenient to take the Green Line from there to get to Fenway Park, which was the entire purpose of my visit.

Aside from the baseball game, what I remember best about the visit is that, when I checked out of the motel, I asked the desk clerk, "How do I get to the Turnpike from here?" He pulled a handout sheet of directions off a huge stack before I even finished the question. :)

You can't get there from here.

That was NH. :p

I lived in Brighton and Waltham very briefly.

Other than that, I've been a C. Masshole most of my life.

And grew up in Westboro, so NEXT to Northboro, boooo Algonquin :D

Not me, but my sister did, and I visited her many times. I voted "no" though.

Huh. I lived in Northampton, so it seems we've both lived in the Pioneer Valley.

And if I'm not mistaken, we now both live in Oregon, right?

I must be stalking you.

I included Amherst because I went to UMass, now I live in Hillsboro.

Yeah I really want to know too!

It was a semi-joke/true that most people that graduated college in the Boston area lived in Allston or Brighton right after :D

But now that seems to include Somerville and Brookeline too

OK, then, I guess I moved across the country for nothing. Stalking FAIL.

Well, it's definitely not me, since I'm lacking in the sperm department. And I've never lived in Allston or Brighton.

Proof that I don't have sperm? I guess I'd better fess up. I have, at various times, been in temporary possession of other people's sperm. But I have never produced, manufactured or in any way created sperm on my own. That's my claim. So I definitely not the baby daddy. It's one of you!

Personally, I think the OP lives there himself and is looking for someone to stalk, but he wants to make sure his stalkee is local so it'll be convenient for him. :D

Pins. Like candles. Overweight candles. And little balls.

OK, never mind!

In the '50s through the '70s, a lot of local TV stations around the country had a "Bowling for Dollars" show.

Except Boston. Boston had "Candlepins for Cash."

eddyj

I used to watch that. I am a regular bowler, but it was fun to do candlepins every so often.

I've never tried candlepin bowling, but I have done duckpin bowling. Cute, little pins and little balls, and you also get three tries to knock them down. :)

I've never heard of duckpin bowling, but your description so far sounds exactly the same as candlepin bowling.

WOW, even I went there as a KID!!!!! So it was still around in the very late 80's/early 90's

I remember haveing probably a 10th bday (1992ish) party there and the lanes were all warped but it was a blast!!

5thcrewman
08-11-2009, 02:19 PM
When I bowled there in the 70's, it cost 35 cents/string! It seemed like a really old place even then. It looks like it is still around and after letting the lanes get really decrepit, they replaced them with synthetic ones 4-5 years ago.
