Stranger Than Fiction - 03-19-2007, 02:04 AM

Finally saw the movie on DVD. I liked it, but I always like stories where the theme seems to be that the hero's reality is forced upon him by someone else. (The Truman Show, The Prisoner, The Matrix, Nowhere Man, etc.)

The part that confused me... how did the two guys from the Sonic commercials get cast in the film together? Are they some sort of duo I'm not aware of?

Mort Kemnon: You really think you've defeated me?
Luster: You did just explode.
Brother Silence: Twice, actually.

Apparently there's a scene on a bus. The girl sitting behind Will Ferrell dated my brother for a while.

Oh yeah... The Game is another movie I like for this reason also. I was trying to think of another example in my original post, and it's been bothering since last night.

One thing that interested me about this movie is that although it was filmed in Chicago, it's not set in Chicago -- it's set in Generic American Big City That Has an IRS Office and a Bus System and a University and a Bakery Where a Hot Chick Works. Usually movies with that kind of a setting are filmed in Los Angeles, or Toronto.

I noticed that a guy was reading the Tribune on the bus. I thought maybe they had mentioned Chicago, but I had accidentally ignored it for some reason.

But now that you mention it, they certainly didn't emphasize any Chicago landmarks.

I can't wait to watch this. It arrived a few days ago and is patiently waiting for me to NOT be too tired one night to watch it.
