Music & Lyrics - 04-21-2007, 03:19 AM

Anyone see Music & Lyrics?

My friend saw it and liked it a lot...he played the soundtrack while I was in his car and it was great and amusing listening to the original music made to sound like it was from the 80s...

I loved it too. So did hubby. Formulaic and predictable, but really well done, IMO.

Thanks for mentioning this. I've added it to my Netflix queue.

Thanks for the feedback... I'll have to add this to the list of many movies that I should watch when I have the opportunity...

Marc - I am not a NetFlix user, so I am speaking out of ignorance... Can you add a movie that is playing in the theater to our queue???

Yes, you can. If it is unknown as far as the DVD release, it goes onto the "Saved" list which isn't technically part of the queue.

In this case, Netflix put Music and Lyrics onto my queue since it will supposedly be released on May 8.

You can add a movie that's not yet out on DVD to your "saved" list, as Marc says. But you can't re-order it with the rest of the queue until the DVD release. IOW, you can't take Spiderman 3 and pop it to the top of your queue today. When the DVD release happens (or maybe a few days before), Netflix moves the movie from the saved list to the very bottom of your queue. Only then are you able to move it up.

My daughter "forced" me to watch this this past weekend.

Definitely a chick flick, but still a fun movie. Reminded me of "Never Been Kissed" (I'd admit that maybe anything with Drew Barrymore in it would remind me of "Never Been Kissed" though. )

I thought the chick that played Cora, Haley Bennett, was really, really...hmmm she may still be underage...never mind.

And wow! Has it really been that long since Kirsten Johnston was on Third Rock? She looks so much older! Still pretty hot, but she's one giant of a women though, isn't she?

Haley Bennett is 19, so you're ok. I watched this again last night. I still like it.

Wife rented this and I thought it would be a 'watch the first 1/2 hour then go see what the goobers on MSq were up to' kinda movie.
(this happens with most Chick-Flicks she gets)
I watched the whole thing, thought it was pretty cute. Probably the 80's 'stuff' I kept getting a giggle out of. Hell, I even watched the 'Video' "Pop" a couple of times.

My favorite "version" of the video is the one they play during the credits - the "Pop Up Video" one. Given the comments, I wonder if they got actual PUV peeps to write it.

We (sweetie and I) thought it was super cute. Watched it at the beach one evening. Perfectly romantic and cheesy enough to be cute to me without being too lame for him to sit through.

Finally saw this... I thought it was entertaining...

I really enjoy when they write original songs sound like they come from another decade... I likewise enjoyed "That Thing You Do" for the same reason... (time to pull that soundtrack out again!)

Really liked it as well. Enjoyed the story and also, I haven't seen a better 80's video parody since Robin Sparkles low budget effort in HIMYM. Also loved the Pop-Up Video Version of Pop! Goes My Heart.

I liked it a lot, especially how Alex (Hugh Grant) was totally comfortable with being a has-been. He wasn't bitter or trying to hang on to fading glory; he was perfectly content playing the high school reunions and amusement park gigs and getting swooned over by 30-something married women.
