WTB Verizon phone - 05-07-2007, 10:04 AM

A couple weeks ago, my wife phone went for a little swim and while it now works, it can be unreliable. It won't always ring with an incoming call. The battery tends to whine about not being genuine. It just up and turns off for some reason.

We got it a year ago on the New Every 2 plan so Verizon won't give us a price break on a new phone.

I was wondering if anyone out there had an recent unused phone? We still have the two phones we had before we upgraded, but if I could pick up something more recent inexpensively, then she would be happier.

I don't know how Verizon works, but with Cingular, you can buy one of their "pay as you go" phones and swap out the SIM card. I don't know if Verizon will work or not. I bet ya someone on Slickdeals could tell ya quickly.

Verizon doesn't work that way since CDMA phones don't use SIM cards. Unfortunately with Verizon, one can only activate a Verizon phone, which means either paying retail price or getting a used one.

Just took a look on ebay-- looks like used 600s are currently going for around $85-$90, before shipping. How does $75, including shipping, sound? It also includes a retractable hotsync cable that's loads better than the one you get from Palm. There's some very minor scratches on it from normal wear and tear, but nothing out of the ordinary for a phone that's a couple of years old.
