The Ezekiel Scene in "Pulp Fiction" - 12-19-2006, 09:12 PM

I was just thinking what would happen if Pulp Fiction had been made today, and Jules quoted from the Koran instead of the Bible.

Can you imagine the outrage?

Not really.

To make someone run out with potato salad in his hand, pretending he's throwing
up, is not what I call hospitality.

It seems like would have been just as appropriate. He wasn't evoking the love of God but rather his wrath. With Malcom X and the nation of Islam converting a noticable size of the black community, Samuel L Jackson character wouldn't be out of place quoting their sacred text.

Rage? Hearing someone clear up the phlem from the back of their throat for a few seconds could cause rage? MAYBE it it was repeated TOO many times...

Why would people be outraged? Heck, most christians probably didn't even know he was quoting from the Bible until he said the word "Lord".

The number of "christians" who have not actually read the Bible to any significant degree is probably quite large.

FACT: Every year in the USA, swimming pools accidentally kill more people than guns.

Well, Michael Savage went apoplectic about it in his book, as well as that movie...the one with the guy with crosses and bible verses tatooed on his body who kills hiswife or whatever.

I just meant that with the tension about not offending Muslims, I would think there would be an outrage is the Koran was portrayed that way...I dunno. I always figured it was OK using the Bible, because it, like, "our" thing, and we can make fun of ourselves if you will.

The Quran to a member of the Nation of Islam is not "theirs"?

Well Michael Savage is quite literally insane. Which makes him entertaining on my drive home from work. I mean the guy really believes there is a gay agenda in Hollywood trying to feminize men. It is funny listen to him rant about Brokeback Mountain.
