Torchwood: New season starts 16th January - 01-03-2008, 05:37 PM

There is also going to be a re-cut (slightly shorter) children friendly version.

So wrong.. I don't want my Torchwood to be "children friendly"...

Daphne: Please understand, the horny Bard does not represent us.

Mort Kemnon: You really think you've defeated me?
Luster: You did just explode.
Brother Silence: Twice, actually.

I haven't seen this on the 'W' network, is BBC and BBC-America running it at the same time, or was the show not continued in England?

Children-friendly? TorchWood?
yeah, those 2 words should not be in the same sentence, ever.

BBC America says they're starting Season 2 on the 26th:

Is HDNet going to be showing Season 2 as early as BBCA is? I really, really want to watch it, but it looked SOP good in HD, I don't want to have to watch it in SD...

I'd probably rent them or check them out on WinAmp ShoutCast TV first.

How chopped up was the BBCA version of Season 1? It really felt like Season 1 did some of the swearing and nudity (I don't remember much over the top violence) just because they could--it didn't fit into the story all that much. If the BBCA showing didn't chop enough to be noticeable, I might just wait and watch it from there, rather than downloading it.

If Gwen gets naked, though, all bets are off.

I watched the HDNet airings, which I believe were uncut. That's why I'm wondering if HDNet is showing Season 2 anytime soon.

\I'd imagine BBCa will be showing teh pre-watershed versions.

I saw the episodes on BBCA before watching them again in sweet HDNet yummyness. Some eps were more hacked than others, but I noticed a difference in every episode. However, I'm the OCD type, and I just get my panties in a bunch if I know I'm watching something other than "the original".

I don't think the cuts made any difference in telling the stories, but chipping away at the language/pacing/etc. with edits and commercials feels wrong somehow. If HDNet is showing the episodes shortly after BBCA, I'll wait for HDNet. If not, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Exactly why I was asking if HDNet was showing Season 2 soon.

The season opener was pretty good, if a bit silly in places. Also, from reading around the net, it looks like James Marsters is going to be in about three episodes of this season. Freema Agyeman is going to be in about three episodes as well.

I always liked James Marsters. I haven't seen him in anything since Buffy and hoped that he'd be able to sustain a career beyond that.

I do know he's going to be in the new live action Dragonball movie. He's playing Piccolo (the green guy, for those of you who have seen Dragonball or Dragonball Z but never really watched it).

He was in Smallville sporadically a couple of seasons ago (speaking with his "normal" voice, which was pretty weird). It seemed like he might be back again this season, but with the strike, who knows.

I have heard it mentioned, including on the only forum I frequent outside of MSq and TCF >
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...ond+the+police

Me, I am cool with it just so long as Torchwood gets to keep its secret prison.

By the way, who or what is Gray, is it anything to do with Jack saying (if I recall correctly) that he was pregnant once.

We don't know anything now, but I'm sure we'll find out eventually. The way they dropped it in there, it's probably going to figure into the overall S2 arc.

The first season, Jack is saying the 'intro' with words along the lines of "it all happens in the 21st Century and we've got to be ready". Now it's "it all happens in the 21st Century and Torchwood is ready".

I occasionally watch this on HDNET (I think that's the channel) and it looks beautiful on my 73" TV. I can't say that about everything, but they do a very good job with colors and style. I haven't been blown away by it or signed up for a season pass, but I'll watch it from time to time anyway.
