Went to an Obama "Education House Party" - 10-24-2008, 01:22 AM

A neighbor down the street invited my wife and me to hear an Obama educational advisor speak to some assembled friends. We RSVPed "no thanks, we're busy."

At 7:35 tonight, our doorbell rang and it was the guy, looking for the party. He had the wrong address and saw us in the dining room and decided to ask for help. I didn't mention to him that he rang the bell of the only Republican on the street.

I pointed him to the right house and then decided to go over also.

Mostly teachers assembled - about 20 people. This guy very articulately laid out some of the Obama positions on education.

He began by saying he is an Obama supporter not because of personality, but because of policy.

He then proceeded to list a heckuvalotta education initiatives that were really fantastic and meaningful and appropriate.

But only if Obama were running for governor or mayor, IMO. I looked at the items and thought each one should not be a federal responsibility, even though I agreed many were important at the state and local level.

I didn't take a crap in the living room at her party, but I did talk to several people afterward and I was the only one who disagreed with the initiatives.

The hostess said "so did we change your mind?" and I said "you know, you might have."

What I meant is that I have been considering voting for Obama, but really, it is because of personality rather than policy.
